Where the effort went

Typography, spacing, a custom cursor. All of it real work, none of it addressing the actual constraint, which was that almost nobody knew the site existed.

Polish is the most comfortable form of avoidance available to anyone who can make things. It feels like progress and it is measurable, which is precisely what makes it dangerous.

The uncomfortable version

Publish more. Tell people. Both are worse to do and better to have done.
